Crash Holds Up I-95 North

According to Patch's commute page, the crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A long stretch of northbound Interstate 95 is moving slow during the evening rush following a crash near the Baltimore Beltway. A reader sent us photos from the scene. Several fire vehicles and an ambulance are visible.  According to Patch's commute page, the interstate is partially blocked and drivers headed north from Maryland Route 100 in Howard County to the beltway can expect major delays during the evening rush hour. Maryland State Highway Administration cameras along I-95 show northbound traffic moving slowly.

Weekend Lane Closures on I-95

Lanes will close for deck replacement, according to State Highway Administration.

On Friday and Saturday nights, some southbound lanes on Interstate 95 will be closed, announced the State Highway Administration (SHA). Two lanes on I-95 south will be closed at I-195 for a bridge deck replacement, said the SHA. The lanes close at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and reopen at 6 a.m. the following mornings.

Former UMD Championship Team Member Plunges to Death

Baltimore County police identified Earl Badu as the man who jumped from I-695 Thursday.

Earl Badu, 33, a member of the University of Maryland’s 2002 basketball national championship team, has been indentified as the man who died Thursday after jumping from Interstate 695 into a construction area on Interstate 95 near Perry Hall. Baltimore County police identified Badu as the jumper in an email on Saturday. According to University of Maryland’s athletic site, Badu was a member of the school’s 2002 National Championship team after walking onto the squad in the fall of 1998. Badu, a graduate of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, died from his injuries at Bay View Medical Center. According to electronic court records, Badu, who listed a PO Box in Bethesda as his address, was convicted of passing a bad check on Sept. 21.

UPDATED: Man Jumps Off Southbound I-95 Bridge

Man jumped from interstate at around 12:30 p.m., according to MD State Police.

8:20 p.m. update: Officials have not released the identity of the man who jumped off the southbound I-95 bridge into Patapsco Valley State Park.  At approximately 3:45 p.m., a ranger at the park's South Street entrance in Halethorpe said that "an accident" had occurred and that the South Street entrance would be closed for the next several hours. The apparent suicide is the latest tragedy to take place in the park. In July of last year, a 46-year-old Elkridge woman died at the Avalon area of the park after taking an indeterminate number of pills. The body of a Catonsville man who died from natural causes was found in the park in June of 2011 during a search for Phylicia Barnes. In October of last year, two people reportedly committed …

Police Investigating Rocks Thrown on I-95

Reports of rocks thrown on cars began around 5 p.m. near I-95 and Caton Avenue.

Baltimore County police said they are investigating reports of rocks thrown on cars in the vicinity of I-95 and Caton Avenue. According to sources, reports of rocks being thrown were received by county police at around 5:02 p.m. on Mar. 12. Three patrol cars were dispatched to the area to find a crowd described as "50 kids" that may be linked to the incident, according to police. No reports of serious injuries or collisions have been reported.
