A restaurant and retail/office space is envisioned on two acres of undeveloped property on Sulphur Spring Road.
An overgrown stretch of Sulphur Spring Road, south of the train overpass that serves as a gateway to Arbutus, is one step closer to becoming a new restaurant and retail/office space development. Developer Steven Whalen has acquired a liquor license for the property. In an Oct. 22 hearing, the Baltimore County Liquor Commission approved the transfer of a liquor license to Whalen from Lansdowne Liquor Locker, LLC, which operated the now-defunct Moondog Cafe at 2200 Hammonds Ferry Rd. in Lansdowne. The state is seeking records on the Southwest Physicians Pavilion developed by Whalen Properties.
The Baltimore Sun reported that eight Baltimore County agencies had their records subpoenaed by the Office of the State Prosecutor. In an article posted Thursday, the state was asking for records associated with the Southwest Physicians Pavilion, which developer Whalen Properties has proposed for Kenwood Avenue. Developer Steve Whalen told the Sun said that wasn't aware of any issues related to the development. To read the full article, go here. Whalen Properties is proposing a seven-story building that will be visible from the beltway.
Another medical building could be built in Catonsville, if plans for a seven-story facility on Kenwood Avenue in Catonsville go through. Catonsville resident and developer Steve Whalen of Whalen Properties has shared his plans to various community groups after he approached Councilman Tom Quirk about the project. On the other side of Catonsville, Saint Agnes Hospital has proposed constructing a medical building on the property of the Catonsville Y. The building would include four stories of offices totalling 85,000 square feet and three stories of parking below it; it would sit on two acres of land.
