Arbutus Weather: More Snow Possible

If you like what the Baltimore area woke up to Monday morning, there may be more of it coming. There's a chance for rain or snow tonight and a slight chance on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, though temperatures are expected to get well above freezing. Much of the heavier snowfall is in western Maryland, with Baltimore County receiving two inches to as much as six inches in some parts, according to the NWS. As for the rest of the week, no precipitation is expected after Tuesday, according to forecasters. Highs will stay in the 40s, then get up into the low 50s by Thursday, and into the mid 50s for the weekend. Baltimore County schools were closed Monday. Predictions Change For Winter Storm

Forecasters, who originally predicted snowfall totals as high as a foot or more in some parts of the Baltimore area, are revising totals.

Schools were closed in preparation, but many residents and Patch readers are wondering—where's the snow? Forecasters, too, have been revising predictions as a low pressure system responsible moves north and takes the warmer temperatures with it. Snowstorm Could Drop Up to 10 inches in Baltimore Metro Area

Most communities could see 4-8 inches total, but Randallstown, Owings Mills and Reisterstown could get the most, at up to 10 inches from Tuesday night through Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

UPDATE: Heavy Snow, Winds, Power Outages Could Begin Tuesday

A snowstorm is heading toward Central Maryland and Baltimore County, and may hit Tuesday, and BGE is bringing in 500 extra workers.

UPDATE (5:38 p.m.) A storm heading toward the Baltimore and D.C. Metro areas could dump one or more inches of heavy snow on Baltimore County, beginning overnight Tuesday. A winter storm watch is in effect from Tuesday evening through Wednesday evening, including in Maryland: from Frederick to Baltimore, and Westminster to Annapolis, according to the National Weather Service. There might be "heavy wet snow, gusty winds, possible power outtages," it states. Meteorologist Justin Berk says there could be up to 5 inches in some areas of Central Maryland. While most days will be dry and clear, one night could bring wintry weather to the Baltimore Metro area.

Snowfall is likely overnight Tuesday in the Baltimore Metro area. The week begins clear on Monday, but clouds could increase Tuesday before the snowfall that's expected mostly between 2 and 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast. As of Sunday evening, there's a 70-80 percent chance of precipitation Tuesday and Wednesday, and there's a 60 percent chance Wednesday night, the forecast states.
