Food Recall: Nesquik Chocolate Powder

Nestle USA has voluntarily recalled three sizes of the product due to possible salmonella contamination.

Nestle USA has announced a voluntary recall of Nesquik chocolate powder canisters due to possible salmonella contamination, according to a press release. Although there have been no reported incidents of illness related to the product, Nesquik stated they decided on the voluntary recall after one of their suppliers, Omya, Inc., issued several recalls due to the possible presence of salmonella in their calcium carbonate.  The recalled canisters were produced in Oct. 2012 and distributed nationally with an expiration date of Best Before Oct. 2014, the release said. According to Nesquik, the chocolate powder in the 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7 ounce canisters are the only products affected. The following UPC and product codes have been recalled: …

Peanut Butter Recall Grows; Product List Here

More than 100 peanut butter and almond butter products—including those sold at Trader Joe's —are recalled by Sunland Inc. following a salmonella outbreak.

A peanut butter recall that began at Trader Joe's last weekend was expanded Monday to more than 100 peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter and Tahini and roasted blanched peanut products made by Sunland Inc.'s Portales, N.M. plant. The voluntary recall was initiated after reports of 30 people infected between June 11 and Sept. 2 with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Bredeney from 19 states—including two cases in California—possibly linked to the peanut and almond butter surfaced, according to news releases from the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
