‘Tumultuous’ Relationship Between Accused Killer And Wife, Son Says

Six witnesses testified about Elkridge couple's relationship at July 5 hearing in murder case of Christine Jarrett; her husband, Robert Jarrett, is the defendant.

Four family members of Christine Jarrett, in addition to a retired Howard County Police Department detective and a Claire Drive neighbor, shared Thursday in court about the Elkridge woman's relationship with her husband, a union the couple’s son Bobby said was “pretty tumultuous." Bobby Jarrett, now 32, was 10 years old when his mother went missing. In April, Howard County police unearthed the remains of Christine Jarrett mixed with concrete under a shed behind Elkridge home she and her husband used to share. Her husband, Robert Jarrett, was subsequently indicted on a first-degree murder charge more than 21 years after he reported his wife, Christine, missing. "They would fight and argue...maybe once a month," said Bobby Jarrett. When …

Family Emotional in Wake of Murder Developments

'How could he raise his kids and look them in the face every day?' - Relative reacting after police charged husband of Christine Jarrett with killing her and disposing of her body in the family's backyard.

Patricia Mueller questions how Robert Jarrett, 57, could have stayed in the family home if he knew his wife's body was buried under a shed in the backyard. Jarrett is in custody on charges of killing her sister, Christine. "How could he raise his kids and look them in the face every day?" Mueller said in an interview with The Baltimore Sun. "How could you go out in that yard, and have parties or cookouts, and know she's only a couple steps away?"  Jarrett remained in the house with his family at 6050 Claire Dr. in Elkridge, MD, after the disappearance of his wife 21 years ago and continued living there with his second wife.  On April 19, Howard County police charged Jarrett in the killing of Christine, who was reported missing on Jan. 5, …

Howard County police say the department never forgot about Christine Jarrett, whose body was found buried in the backyard of her home after 21 years.

Howard County police officials say they always remained on the search for Christine Jarrett, an Elkridge woman missing since 1991 whose husband has been charged in her killing after police found her remains buried behind their house. "She was someone we never forgot," Sherry Llewellyn, spokeswoman for the Howard County Police Deparment (HCPD), said in an interview with WJZ. Robert Jarrett, in the Howard County Detention Center facing first- and second-degree murder charges, wouldn't let officials search the house after he reported his wife missing in 1991, police told WJZ. Detective Stephen R. Greisz, who is now retired but was assigned to the case in 1991, said that Robert Jarrett did give officers permission to search the couple's house …
