An open tryout will be held Saturday at Camden Yards.
You may not be the next Manny Machado, but you may have a shot at being the next Baltimore Orioles ballboy or ballgirl. With less than a month to go until the home opener against the Minnesota Twins on Apr. 5, the team will hold an open tryout starting at noon Saturday at Camden Yards. The Orioles are looking for athletic men and women 18 or older for the 2013 season. Participants are asked to dress casually and bring their own baseball gloves, according to a news release. The team asks that ballboys and ballgirls be "personable, customer-service oriented and available to work the entire 2013 season," in addition to being able to field ground balls. Two Orioles season ticket holders tell the tale of a 15-year wait.
Debbie Dwyer and Rosie Cassidy have been patiently waiting. When the Rockville residents purchased an Orioles season-ticket plan 15 years ago, they were making an investment in the future. They knew someday it would pay off. Little did they know it would be 15 years. And little did they know in spring training that it would be this year. They normally sit on the first base side, so they were adjusting to their new digs, but you can see in the video how thrilled they were to be at Oriole Park at Camden Yards to experience the club's first playoff series since 1997. The Orioles and Yankees met in Game 3 Wednesday night. TELL US…

And no, we're not talking about the bonus baseball these Orioles seem to enjoy playing after nine innings are complete. Check it out. The Orioles offer a deal for a free ticket to all fans as a birthday gift. You don't have to take it on your birthday. You don't even have to take it on your birthday month. You can take it in September. Shows how unexpected this playoff run was, huh? Read all …

The Orioles remain in the playoff hunt—how do you think the Birds will finish?
The Orioles can’t seem to do wrong this September. No, I’m not talking about Buck Showalter’s magic with the lineup card or the bullpen—though they should just give him the manager of the year award with some of the Houdini-like maneuvers he’s made in 2012. I’m talking about the organization as a whole. Chime in! Start your own Local Voices column on the O's today! After years of appearing completely disconnected from their quickly-unplugging fan base, the Orioles seem to be making all the right moves as they near the end of an exciting season. A few things I’ve noticed from observing the team’s actions and being at the ballpark in recent weeks. That’s just three ways the Orioles have done exceedingly well surrounding this talented club …
