Craig Nathaniel Webster of Catonsville was charged Sunday in burglaries of two businesses on US Rte. 40.
Baltimore County police arrested a man Sunday, charging him in burglaries of two Catonsville businesses. At 3:40 a.m., Craig Nathaniel Webster allegedly broke into Patient First at 6333 US Route 40, and allegedly stole candy, according to a Baltimore County police report from the Wilkens precinct. He allegedly broke a rear window to get in, and he was caught after another burglary nearby, the report states. In another burglary, he allgedly broke glass doors at Forty West Racquet Club, 6421 US Route 40, and tried to pry open a safe, according to another report. County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said he would like to open a new regional park on 8 acres.
Baltimore County is trying to secure a part of Spring Grove Hospital Center to develop a regional park. Kamenetz said he has begun the process by talking with state officials. "In December the county was informed that the state was initiating an intergovernmental review of more than 8 acres of property at Spring Grove Hospital Center," Kamenetz said in a statement. "I immediately directed the county's planning department to submit a formal request for the property on behalf of Baltimore County for use as a regional park." There will be a wine tasting and breakfast event coming in the next few weeks.
The Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce is going to have a few events in the coming weeks. First will be the Winter Wine Tasting, set for 6 p.m. Feb. 21 at Overhills Mansion. It would move to one week later (Feb. 28) if the weather is bad. The cost will be $25 pre-registered and prepaid, or $30 if you come and pay at the door. Attendees can register online for the wine tasting and other chamber events Next month, the chamber's going to have a Breakfast Networking Event, a joint event with the Baltimore County Chamber plus the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber. That is set for 7:30 a.m. March 20, also at the mansion. The cost for that event is $25 pre-registered and $45 at the door and for non-members.

MTA will do the work late Friday night into early Saturday morning.
The Maryland Transit Administration announced this week that it's going to install a 40-ton bridge for pedestrians at the Halethorpe MARC Train Station starting late Friday night. The 80-foot steel bridge's installation is the last part of the $21 million renovation project, something that's going to temporarily block abouit 200 parking spaces, according to a news release. The MTA said in the release that train traffic's going to be halted while a heavy-duty crane actually lowers the bridge down into the correct position. In addition, the MTA said the bridge is scheduled for a 1:30 a.m. installation on Saturday. The Center For Pregnancy Concerns (CPC) will open a center in Arbutus Tuesday. It's set to open at 5406 East Drive in Arbutus, and will be open from 2-7 Tuesday. This will be the fourth CPC in Baltimore County, according to a news release. CPC aims to "provide clients with peer-to-peer counseling, free pregnancy testing, pre-natal development information, limited sonograms, prenatal vitamins, maternity clothing and referrals to community resources including housing, healthcare and adoption information," the release states. It also helps families with small children that need infant clothing and supplies. There are also parenting and life skills classes, and other educational programs. The new Lotte Plaza is open. Lotte Plaza is located in the 46,000-square-foot, former Toys 'R Us store at One Mile West Shopping Center. The opening, held Dec. 14, was later than officials had estimated. Lotte Plaza, at 6600 Baltimore National Pike, is an international market which sells mostly Asian food and products. It's open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to an employee at the store. The One Mile West Shopping Center is owned by The Fedder Company. Lotte Plaza is located across the United States.
