A juvenile was stabbed in the neck. Police believe the victim will survive.
Baltimore County Police have taken an adult into custody in connection with the stabbing of a juvenile. At 9:30 a.m., Baltimore County Police and Fire officials responded to a reported stabbing at a home in the 600 block of Washington Avenue in Lansdowne. When they arrived, they found a juvenile with a large stab wound in his neck, according to a press release. The victim is a 14-year-old male, according to Baltimore County Public Safety’s Twitter. An adult male is in custody but has not been officially charged, police said. The juvenile was transferred to the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and police believe he will survive, the release said. The incident is still under investigation.

In the minutes after Baltimore County Council member Todd Huff was pulled over for driving without headlights, the first-term Republican apparently called Baltimore County Police Chief Jim Johnson multiple times and said in one of the calls he had been drinking before operating his county-owned Jeep. "Apparently I was pulled over, I didn't have my headlights on and yes, I was drinking," Huff said in the voice mail left on Johnson's county cell phone that lasted less than 30 seconds. The Baltimore County Police Homeland Security section is providing the school system with training on what to be aware of in case of a school shooting.
The Baltimore County Police Department is collaborating with the school system to provide staff with more training in dealing with potential school shooting situations. The heightened concern comes after an attack at Perry Hall High School and a gun incident at Stemmers Run Middle School earlier in the school year. "We are working on making sure that the leadership of the schools, principals, fully understand our protocols," said Dale Rauenzahn, executive director of school safety and security. Larry Eugene Horton, 38, was convicted of first-degree murder Thursday.
A Halethorpe man faces life behind bars after he was convicted Thursday of murdering an 18-year-old man. Larry Eugene Horton, 38, was convicted of the first-degree murder of Ryan Wesley Jackson in Baltimore County Circuit Court after a four-day trial, according to a press release from the State’s Attorney for Baltimore County. Horton will be sentenced on April 29. He faces a maximum penalty of life without the possibility of parole. Jackson, who was 18 at the time of his murder, was found dead in the Brooklyn area of Baltimore City on Oct. 15, 2011. An autopsy revealed that he died from 24 hatchet blows to the head. Baltimore County Police have charged an Annapolis man with murder in the death of Owings Mills resident Katie Hadel. Jeffrey Michael Shiflett, 33, of the 1700 block of Saint Margarets Road in Annapolis, is charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to a Baltimore County Police press release. He was arrested without incident Wednesday morning shortly after 11 a.m. when an officer spotted him walking on the street in the Reisterstown area, police said. UPDATE 1:25 p.m. Feb. 6: Baltimore County Police arrested a 33-year-old man Wednesday morning in an Owings Mills homicide. Police found the body of Katie Hadel, 33, in her apartment on Wellhaven Circle Tuesday night while responding to a domestic disturbance report. Two small children were found unharmed in the apartment, according to a police press release. Hadel was stabbed multiple times and was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said. Baltimore County Police Chief James Johnson continued his crusade against civilians owning assault weapons during a Thursday appearance on WYPR's Midday with Dan Rodricks. The police chief said opponents of assault weapon bans frequently cite home invasions as a reason to possess them, but pointed out that there is no "serious chronic problem with home invasions" in Baltimore County. "An assault weapon is an excessive weapon for the public," Johnson told Midday listeners. Johnson further noted that home invasions are commonly connected to drug-related incidents. An off-duty Baltimore City Police officer was charged with two counts of reckless endangerment after pointing his departmentally-issued handgun at people in Towson. Matthew David Daugherty, 28, was arrested around 2:15 a.m. Saturday morning and later released on $75,000 bail. Baltimore County Police responded to the Rec Room at 512 York Road in Towson at 2:15 a.m., where an employee told them an intoxicated off-duty city officer was acting belligerent and saying he had a gun. A stranger approached a 10-year-old boy on his way to a Lochearn elementary school Wednesday morning.
Baltimore County Police are investigating an incident in which a stranger assaulted a 10-year-old boy Wednesday morning. At 8:25 a.m. on Jan. 16, the boy was walking near Essex Road and Elba Drive in Lochearn, on his way to Woodmoor Elementary School, when a man approached him and grabbed his jacket. The boy resisted, ran to school and told school officials. He was not harmed, according to a Baltimore County Police press release. Anyone with information should call police at 410-307-2020.

UPDATE (4:12 p.m.)—Two men were arrested over the weekend after allegedly selling illegal high-capacity magazines at the Timonium Gun and Knife Show, according to Baltimore County police. John Heilmeier, 57, of Cumberland, VA, and Richard Summers, 64, of Waldorf, MD, both face firearms charges after an undercover officer observed the sale of what police said was a 30-round magazine.
