Looking for coffee shops in/around the Arbutus area, I came across Ben's Beans. Stopped into today (finally got the chance). Very relaxed, casual atmosphere. Talked to Ben and others there, and they were very polite, and had a very nice conversation about classic rock music :-) Found out that on Friday's they have a local jam night, where people can come in show what they can do with a musical instrument :-) Although I don't play an instrument right now, I will definitely be going back to see some undiscovered talent :-) If you are in the area, definitely stop in for a cup of coffee and check them out.

Friendly and personable.The service is more like being at a friends house than some all to familiar business establishment.There are acoustic instruments for anyone to pick up,ability is of no issue.And the owner Ben will be happy to help you along if you're just a beginner.There is hand crafted jewelry,at great prices.Outside tables provide an opportunity to have a cup and a look at the paper,or just relax.
All in all this is what a community acoustic coffee house is supposed to be!
Had a great cup of coffee and some friendly conversation. Nice addition to the neighborhood!
