Viewfinder: A Day in the Park

Patapsco State Park throws a volunteer fair to fete two-legged, four-legged and winged friends.

On Saturday, Patapsco State Park sponsored a volunteer fair to thank those who give their time as rangers, guides, or work to clear trails and other park projects.

Boy Scouts grilled and served hot dogs, while on the other side of the pavilion young children made bird feeders slathered with peanut butter and seeds. Tables and exhibits explained the variety of activities and services available to the public at our state parks. In front, a telescope provided views of sunspots.

Special guests at the event included a screech owl, a horned owl, a peregrine falcon, a turkey vulture, and a horse member of the volunteer mounted patrol.
