Halethorpe Residents Tackle Foliage

Power tools were used to trim vegetation along Waelchli Avenue.

On the evening of Sept. 11, two Halethorpe residents powered up industrial-strength weed trimmers to tackle overgrown foliage along Waelchli Avenue near the Amtrack tracks.

Mike McAuliffe, president of Halethorpe Improvement Association, and groundskeeper Joe Powell spent their evening trimming vegetation around the railroad trestle that many regard as the gateway to Arbutus.

Previously, McAuliffe and other volunteers cleared away brush at the top of staircases leading up from Sulphur Spring Road, which at one time long ago led to the Arbutus Station.
