Speak Up, Leeds Avenue!

Leeds Avenue residents expose an attempt to exclude them from decision-making.

THEY ARE DECIDING THE FATE OF LEEDS AVENUE WITHOUT US!  COMMENTS ARE OPEN UNTIL JUNE 6, 2011.

Yep, They responded to a request for information about their meeting at 1:46 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2011 and they will only take comments through June 6. This is how they play their game.

As usual, our fate is decided without any input from us. A plucky neighbor from Leeds Avenue recently sent me pdf a “presentation” put together by the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB). I have attached the presentation. Coincidentally, it hits all the issues that will be addressed in a Leeds Avenue Residents constitutional rights case against the state and county. Just, coincidentally. –Pedestrian safety, air quality, co-opting of the road by non-pedestrians. It is just sick, that this is what it takes for a state and county to do what they should have done anyway. Proving once again, that people will do what they wish, for as long as they can get away with it. -Politicians and bureaucrats especially.

Of course, I immediately researched the “presentation” and this is what I learned.

“The Ramp near Leeds Ave - I-695 project, is proposed for amendment to the FY 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).  Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) will continue to accept comments on this comment period through Monday, June 6, 2011.  Following this, they will review and respond to all comments received.  This amendment is currently scheduled for adoption at their next meeting on Tuesday, June 28 at 9 am.  Should you have any additional comments you are welcome to present them at this meeting during the public comment opportunity.”

“PROPOSED” – WE MUST SPEAK UP NOW! If we are silent, they will end up using the money for a special BMW parking lot at the MARC station or some other rich-pandering act of stupidity.

They scheduled the meeting for 9:00 am on Tuesday, June 28. What better way to guarantee that NO RESIDENTS ARE PRESENT? -We will be at work. They say that residents are welcome, but do not provide the location of the meeting. –Don’t you worry, I will get the location so as many of us can show up as possible.

But for now, Leeds Avenue neighbors, email your stories to these people! EVERY STORY YOU CAN TELL ABOUT CONDITIONS HERE! I know that you are fed up, but this is our chance to push past lowly bureaucrats and be heard by their gas-bag bosses who really don’t want us to file a constitutional right case against the county and state. In other words, the gas- bags who have the power to fix this.

Here’s how you can help. Email your stories. Many of our elderly do not email. Go collect their stories, fax or scan them and send them to the addresses below. Or, have them call the numbers below. PLEASE, cc leeds.united.pedestrians@gmail.com. It will help to have a set of the documents we send them for our upcoming actions including our website, www.leeds-united-pedestrians.

The Leeds United Pedestrian tee shirts are ready to print. Email for details. They will be ready in time for the meeting on June 28. We will bring lots of photos. Including the photo of the ambulance getting t-boned on Leeds Avenue. (That is a beauty.) We should all show up in our Leeds United Pedestrian tee shirts. The artwork is in this blog. Porch banners are also available. If you can help pass flyers this weekend (to inform the neighbors who may not see this blog), email leeds.united.pedestrians@gmail.com for instructions.
