Cure for Summertime Blues: Arbutus Concert Series

Visit Arbutus for live, family-friendly, outdoor music on Saturday, with free admission

Liven up your summer with the free “Arbutus Summer Nights” concert series this weekend and every Saturday until September.

This Saturday features Blues by the Patty Reece Band. The concert is 4-7 p.m., in the Selma Avenue Revenue Parking Lot, 5200 Selma Avenue.

The concerts are family-friendly and guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs or picnics.

According to The Baltimore Sun, Terry Nolan, president of the Arbutus Business and Professional Association, came up with the idea after hearing about Towson's similar concert series, "Feet on the Street."

Nolan wanted to create a community atmosphere and said that the concert series was funded with about $7,500 from a $10,000 county grant awarded to the business association for local projects, the Sun reported.

This Saturday, beer and wine will be served in a designated beer garden, provided by the Arbutus Business & Professional Association. 

Additional artist line-ups for August are as follows:

  • Aug. 10       Second Stage Band, classic rock
  • Aug. 17       Beach Bumz, Beach Boys-style music
  • Aug. 24       Dave DeMarco Band » classic rock, bassist for Crack the Sky
  • Aug, 31       Rob Fahey and the Pieces » classic rock, songwriter of “Raised on the Radio” by the Ravyns
