Steelers Coach Fined $100,000 for Sideline Mistake

Mike Tomlin called it "embarrassing, inexcusable, illegal."

By Brian Hooks

The NFL announced Wednesday that Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin will be fined $100,000 and the Steelers could be forced to forfeit a future draft pick, after Tomlin nearly had contact with Ravens kick returner Jacoby Jones during gameplay Thursday night.

Referees did not penalize Tomlin during the game, which the Ravens won 22-20, but on Tuesday, Dean Blandino, NFL vice president of officiating, said Tomlin should have been penalized, according to NFL.com.

Before the fine was announced, Tomlin apologized for the incident, calling it "embarrassing, inexcusable, illegal" during a Tuesday press conference.

The NFL will consider making the Steelers forfeit a 2014 draft pick, once the draft order is established at the end of the season.
