Both Vikings Softball and Baseball Earn Spots in Baltimore Sun Poll
Softball finishes with No. 5 ranking while baseball climbs into top ten in Sun's final regular season poll.
Although both Lansdowne baseball and softball dropped their state final contests, The Baltimore Sun, certainly took note of the overall seasons both teams put together.
The softball squad, which held down a regular spot in the Sun metro poll as early as mid-season, finished as the fifth ranked team with a 19-4 record. The Vikings fell to Easton, 8-5, in the 2A State Championship. Their only other losses came via Eastern Tech (twice) and Seton Keough.
Matt Kohel’s baseball squad didn’t climb into the rankings until after capturing the 2A North region title over Digital Harbor. A win versus Calvert in the 2A State Semis and an appearance against eventual champion North Caroline in the championship earned the Vikings, who finished 14-6 on the year, the No. 9 slot in the final poll.
