According to the UMBC web site, today engineers were to begin powering up residence halls one at a time. The first residence was scheduled to go back online at 1 p.m.

A text alert said that the powering-up of the first apartment building had been successful. About two minutes later, according to witnesses, the lights flickered twice and went out.
