Mount St. Joe's Renovation, Construction Programs Continue

The largest construction project in school history began last summer.

Phase II of the Campaign for Mount St. Joseph is moving along, and the construction and renovation of this part will be the largest project in the school's 136-year history.

According to the school's website, groundbreaking on Phase II of the campaign for Mount Saint Joseph was last summer. This Phase includes "the renovation of the existing gymnasium and the construction of a 58,000 square-foot athletic complex," it states. 

This facility also is going to include a second basketball court with a concession stand, wrestling room, men's locker rooms and a training suite and fitness center.

This Phase will renovate the 30,000 square-foot gym presently in place.

The gym was built in 1954 and the renovation will do things like replacing the roof, windows and plumbing and create classrooms and office space, plus women's and visiting team locker rooms in the basement.

Phase I of the Campaign for Mount St. Joseph was finished five years ago and involved a number of other things in athletics. 

There was the construction of the school's stadium, track, turf field plus a pedestrian bridge which connects the academic and athletic sides of the campus.
