Lansdowne Honored by Kamenetz for WaPo List

High school ranked 108th in Maryland, No. 1,830 in nation.

Lansdowne High School is among the 13 schools Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz recognized today for ranking nationally on The Washington Post High School Challenge List.

Kamenetz will present each of the county's ranked schools with a congratulatory poster at 3:30 p.m. at the Old Courthouse in Towson, according to a press release.

Lansdowne ranked 108th in Maryland and No. 1,830 in the nation, according to the WaPo analysis.

It's the second year the publication has expanded the project to schools across the country. The challenge began 14 years ago when reporter Jay Mathews came up with the Challenge Index to rank high schools on their ability to prepare students for college. 

The ranking formula divides the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or other college-level tests a school gave in 2010 by the number of graduating seniors, according to a press release.
