Ellicott City Group Donates Supplies to Halethorpe Elementary

Notebooks, pencils, glue sticks and backpacks still needed.

Members of Howard County Rotaract donated much-needed school supplies to Halethorpe Elementary on the morning of Aug. 22. The bounty included boxes of crayons, notebooks, pencils and other essentials chronically in short supply.

About one-quarter of the Halethorpe Elementary student population consists of underprivileged children of Burmese refugee families, according to principal Jill Carter.

Halethorpe Elementary—and other schools in this area—are still accepting donations of supplies from individuals and groups. Needed most: hand sanitizer, glue sticks, notebooks, pencils and backpacks.
