MARC Closing Halethorpe Parking Spots

Seventy parking spots closed for duration of construction of new Halethorpe Station.

The parking squeeze at the MARC Halethorpe Station is about to get worse. Beginning Monday, Oct. 24, the contractor building the new platforms and stations at Halethorpe will barricade off approximately 70 parking spaces along the tracks, in the middle of the lot.

The spaces will be blocked for the duration of the project, which is expected to be about 18 months.

Maryland Transit Administration suggests some alternative to parking at the Halethorpe Station in the meantime:

  • Carpooling or ride-sharing with fellow commuter.
  • Using the Dorsey station on the MARC Camden Line, which has ample free parking and the same fares Halethorpe. While the Camden Line does not have midday service, a bus connection from BWI Marshall Airport Rail Station to Dorsey now meets the 12:20 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. departures from Union Station.
  • Park at the BWI Marshall Airport Rail Station. Parking is free if commuters order monthly tickets from BWI through Commuter Direct. The fare is also the same as Dorsey.
