Heavy Seas Beer Part of Super Bowl Bet

The Halethorpe brewery is part of the bet between politicians from Maryland and California.

Heavy Seas beer is earning some publicity this week thanks to a Super Bowl bet between senators from Maryland and California.

WJZ reported Monday that Maryland Senators Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski have made a wager with California Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein over Sunday's Super Bowl between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers.

The game will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start and will air on CBS.

The senators are betting things from their areas, according to the report. The Maryland politicians are offering Faidley’s crab cakes, Berger cookies and Heavy Seas beer plus a can of one of Baltimore’s favorite hairsprays from Mikulski.

Senators Boxer and Feinstein are betting the following: some Dungeness crab, Napa Valley wine, sourdough bread and a selection of Northern California cheeses.
