Council Bill Proposes Digital Ad Ban on Charles Street

A Baltimore County Council bill would prevent new digital ads from being posted along Charles Street.

A Baltimore County Council bill would ban new electronic billboards from being posted on any National Scenic Byway in the jurisdiction.

Councilman David Marks, R-Perry Hall, and Councilwoman Vicki Almond, D-Reisterstown, are sponsoring the bill that would currently affect Charles Street between the city and county line and Interstate 695.

"Charles Street is a special route in Baltimore County, one of the most beautiful in Maryland, and it deserves protection to keep it this way," Almond said in a news release.

Currently county laws only prohibit digital ads in designated historic and rural areas.

Existing electronic ads along Charles Street would be allowed to remain if the bill is passed.
