After months on the campaign trail, the Democrats will make their candidacy official. Doug Gansler will announce his candidacy for Governor later this month.

He’s been running for months but Anthony Brown will file the paperwork to make his campaign for governor and lt. governor official.

Brown and his running mate, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman, are expected to file the paperwork Friday afternoon. Ulman is scheduled to join Brown at the Maryland State Board of Elections.

Brown is not alone in the contest for the Democratic nomination to succeed Gov. Martin O’Malley.
