Baltimore County Salting Roads after Sunday's Snow
An afternoon snowfall left slick roads in Baltimore County and surrounding areas.
Public works crews are at it again in Baltimore County Sunday night, clearing roads from the afternoon snowfall.
All roads in the region were snow-covered as of 5:38 p.m., the Baltimore County Snow Fighter page reported.
Approximately 1.2 inches of snow fell in Baltimore County Sunday, according to the National Weather Service, which provided an unofficial count taken in Glyndon.
The State Highway Administration encouraged motorists to brush up on their winter driving skills, offering a tip sheet that started with "don't drive if you don't have to."
As of 7:45 p.m., the Baltimore County Department of Public Works reported that salting of its roadways was 40 percent complete.
Sunday's snow came on the heels of an ice storm this week that caused more than 40,000 BGE customers in Baltimore County to lose power.
Approximately 30 customers were without power in Baltimore County Sunday night and more than 500 in Carroll County still had outages, according to BGE, which reported the two were among the "hardest hit" in its service area this week.
