Riverview Fire Displaces Family

Tartarian Court fire originated in second-floor bedroom.

Yards strewn with debris are all that remain of a fire at a townhouse on the 3200-block of Tartarian Court in Riverview that ignited late Saturday night.

According to Capt. Frank Penn, acting batallion chief at Baltimore County Fire Department's Westview station, the fire was reported shortly after 10 p.m. night and was brought under control in about 15 minutes.

The fire was contained to a second-floor bedroom, although the entire house and adjacent units were damaged by smoke and flames. The occupants of the home escaped the fire, and nobody was injured in the incident, Penn says.

Aside from career firefighters from the Westview station, also responding to the scene were volunteer firefighter crews from Arbutus, English Consul, Lansdowne and Violetville. About 25 firefighters worked the fire, according to Penn.

The fire is still under investigation, Penn says.
