Police Blotter: Glen Burnie Man Charged in Arbutus Burglary

The following is based on information provided by Baltimore County Police Department

April 30: Between 2-9 a.m. an unknown person destroyed the lock on a shed on the 3100 block of Sholoh Court in Riverview and took a 2006 Honda dirt bike.

May 1: William Lee Meilke, 20, of the 300 block of Cherry Lane in Glen Burnie, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree burglary and attempted first-degree burglary after being caught entering a gate into the rear yard of a residence on the 1300 block of Birch Avenue in Arbutus and attempting to pry open a rear sliding door. Meilke was apprehended by the police in the act.

May 3: At some time since 9 p.m. the previous evening, an unknown person broke into Leadership Through Athletics on the 2900 block of Hammonds Ferry Road in Lansdowne and took 14 laptop computers.

May 5: Between 1 a.m. and noon, an unknown suspect broke into a detached garage on the 1800 block of Park Avenue in Halethorpe and took a dishwasher, fireplace set, hedge trimmers, leaf blower, cordless drill, reciprocating saw and three gas cans.

May 5: Two men were arrested at around 1:07 p.m and charged with burglary of a towing business on the 3000 block of Hammonds Ferry Road in Lansdowne. According to police, Christopher Aaron Bethrum, 23, of Grove Road in northeast Baltimore, and Robert Edward Gibson, 20, drove a truck into a fenced business yard and took 20 axels and 10 pounds of brake rotors. The business owner located the suspects at a city scrap yard and the men were arrested.

May 5: At some time during the previous month, and unknown suspect broke into a vacant home on the 100 block of Gladys Avenue in Baltimore Highlands and took about 100 feet of copper piping and an air conditioning unit.

May 6: Between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., an unknown person attempted to gain entry to a business on the 4300 block Hollins Ferry Road by forcing open a side door. Entry was not gained, and nothing was taken.

May 6: Between 1:42 and 2:47 p.m., a resident on the unit block of Lanhill Court in Arbutus said that his child's mother informed him by text message that she was in his home. She entered the residence without permission and took a chair, toys, a basket and clothes.

May 6: At 11 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the Fresh Food Mart on the 3900 block of Hollins Ferry Road through a hole in the wall where an air conditioning unit had been removed. Nothing was taken once the suspect was inside. The incident was captured on surveillance video.
