Police Blotter: Attempts at Robbery and Burglary

Robbery thwarted at East Drive cafe in Arbutus.

Feb. 14: At around 7:45 p.m., a woman was observed throwing a brick through the window of a house on the 3900-block of Rosalie Avenue. Witnesses then lost sight of the woman. Police responded and found a suspect nearby who was positively identified as the person who broke the window. The occupant of the house was notified, and upon assessing the residence determined that the only thing missing was hotdog rolls. Valerie Ann Harper, 32, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary.

Feb. 20: At around 2 a.m., a white male entered Habibah Cafe on the 5300-block of East Drive, assaulted the cashier and demanded money. The cashier fought back, and several customers also intervened. When police arrived, they found Steven Russ Patterson, 25, of the 1300-block of Linden Avenue, being detained by the cashier and customers. Patterson was arrested anc charged with attempted robbery.
