Police Blotter: Armed Robberies and Burglaries

Arbutus Gas Station Robbed

Apex Mini-Mart on the 5300-block of East Drive was robbed by a man brandishing a knife at around 9:31 p.m. on Oct. 10, according to police.

A white male wearing a white hankerchief over his face entered the business, pulled a silver-bladed knife on the clerk, and demanded all the money in the register.

The suspect reached over the counter, took an unknown amount of money from the register, and fled northbound on foot, police said.

Police described the suspect as a white male in his 30s, about 5'8" tall and 180 pounds, with a medium build, wearing blue jeans.

Woman Has Ear Bitten Off in Fight

An argument between two Lansdowne women led to a fight in which both ended up taken to the hospital--one with her ear bitten off, according to police.

At around 4:05 p.m. on Oct. 9, police responded to a report of an assault on the 2400-block of Tionesta Road. A 45-year-old woman told police that she had a verbal altercation with a 31-year-old neighbor about her children that escalated into a fight.

During the fight, the older woman's right ear was bitten off by the other woman, who police said had a laceration to her forehead and scratches on her right cheek. Both women were transported to St. Agnes Hospital for treatment.

Men Robbed on Maiden Choice

Two men were robbed while walking home from the Mars supermarket on the 1000-block of Maiden Choice Lane in Arbutus at around 11 p.m. on Oct. 7, according to police. The victims reported that wthey were approached by a male black who displayed a semiautomatic handgun and demanded their property.

The suspect took a Nokia cell phone, then fled west on Westland Boulevard toward the Beltway, police said.

Oella Home Invaded, Robbed at Gunpoint

Two men barged into a home in Oella on Oct. 5 and robbed the occupants at gunpoint, according to police.

The suspects entered an unlocked home on the 400-block of Oella Avenue at around 11:15 a.m. with guns drawn, police said. Three victims--a 73-year-old woman, a 77-year-old man and a 22-year-old man–at gunpoint while the men ransacked the home, according to police.

The men forced one of the victims to open a safe before leaving with money, laptop computers and a set of keys.

Police said the two men got in a car where a third suspect was waiting.The vehicle was located and stopped by police, who arrested and charged Michael Maurice Williams, 24, of Dunbar Avenue in Catonsville. Charges are pending against a second suspect and police are looking for the third.

Burglaries in the Area

Oct. 5: At some time between 12:30-3 p.m., an unknown peson entered an address on the 3500-block of Clover Avenue in Baltimore Highlands by climbing on a garage roof. Once inside, the suspect stole a drill and wire cutters, and stripped copper pipe from the basement.

Oct. 7: At some time between 6-10:50 p.m., an unknown person forced open the rear door to a residence on he 3700-block of McDowell Lane in Baltimore Highlands. Once inside, the location was ransacked but nothing was taken.

Oct. 7: At 11:13 p.m., three unknown subjects forced open the back door of a residence on the 2500-block of Virginia Avenue on Baltimore Highlands while the the resident was asleep upstairs. The victim was woken by the intruders in his bedroom, rifling through his dressers. The suspects took a laptop computer, a video game system, a cell phone, 2 Ravens jerseys, cash, and the victim's car keys.

Oct. 8: Some time between 7 p.m. on Oct. 7 and 4:45 a.m. on Oct. 8, an unknown person pushed an air conditining unit out of a rear window of a residence on the 4700-block of McDowell Lane in Baltimore Highlands. The suspect reached inside to unlock the door and gain entry. Once inside the suspect took a laptop computer, three watches and a mini electric motorcycle.

Oct. 8: At some time betwen 6 p.m. on Oct. 7 and 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 8, an unknown person kicked in the back door of a residence on the 4200-block of Twin Circle Way in Baltimore Highlands and took a television set, three laptop computers and money.

Oct. 8: At some time between 10:30 p.m. on Oct 7 and 10 a.m. on Oct 8, an unknown person forced open the rear door of a residence on the 3700-block of McDowell Lane in Baltimore Highlands and took a video game system.

Oct. 10: At some time since 9 a.m. on Oct. 7, an unknown person forced open the back foor of a residence on the 3700-block of McDowell Lane in Baltimore Highlands. The victim reported that kitchen drawers had been rifled, but nothing was taken from inside of the home.

Oct. 10: At 12:30 p.m., an officer on patrol observed a black male remove items from a fenced-in yard on the 400-block of Bigley Avenue in Lansdowne. After contacting the homeowner, the officer determined that the man did not have permission to be in the yard. Butch Tork Kimble, 32, of the 3000-block of Bero Drive in Lansdowne, was arrested anc charged with fourth degree burglary.

Oct. 11: At some time bwteen 5 p.m. on Oct. 10 and 2:30 on Oct. 11, unknown suspects broke into an empty townhouse on the 700-block of Rambo Court in Riverview. Two rear windows were broken out, and tobacco was left on the kitchen sink.

Oct. 11: At around 10:10-10:30 a.m., a home in Baltimore Highlands was burgled by two men who backed a white pick-up truck into the yard of a home on the 3000-block of Virginia Avenue. One of the men started cutting the grass while the other cut the copper and electrical hook-up lines to the house and took them along with two air conditioning units. The men, both described as white males, drove off towards Baltimore Street.
