Police Blotter: Armed Robberies and Burglaries

Man Arrested for Knife Assault
A Baltimore Highlands man was arrested following a violent altercation on July 29, according to police.

Police said that Gilbert Martin Ely, 30, of the 4100-block of Twin Circle Way, was involved in a dispute with his girlfriend when another friend stepped in and tried to calm him down. Ely stabbed the bystander in the shoulder with a folding knife, according to police.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Ely has been charged with first degree assault.

Lansdowne Woman Charged with Domestic Abuse
Lindsay Nicole Lease, 24, of the 400-block of Bigley Avenue in Lansdowne, was arrested following an altercation on July 30.

When police arrived at around 2:12 p.m., they found a man with his left forearm wrapped in a shirt. The man said he had been arguing with his girlfriend about money when she cut him with a six-inch kitchen knife, which police recovered at the scene.

Lease has been charged with domestic abuse.

Man Charged With Burglary
Nathaniel Lawrence Matthews, 47, was arrested by police after entering a home on the 4200-block of McDowell Lane in Baltimore Highlands and taking property.

Police said that Matthews took a pet stroller, two black leather jackets and a glass tissue box. He was stopped by a police officer as he left the rear door of the residence. According to police, he claimed to have permission to take the property.

Matthews, also of the 4200-block of McDowell Lane, was charged with first degree burglary and petty theft.

Two Charged with Lansdowne Burglaries
Two men have been arrested for breaking into Lansdowne High School and unsuccessfully attempting to break into a nearby liquor store.

William Joseph Stiles and Jose Ricardo, both 20 years old, attempted to gain entry into Charm City Liquors on the 3800-block of Hollins Ferry Road, by prying through a rear wall shortly after midnight on July 28, police said. The men fled when an alarm sounded.

About an hour earlier, Stiles and Ricardo entered the high school by cutting through a screen, according to police. They went from room to room taking items, police said.

The suspects were identified on security video, and linked to the liquor store burglary attempt by a glove left at the scene, according to police. Stiles and Ricardo have each been charged with second degree burglary, petty theft and destruction of property.

Armed Home Invasion in Halethorpe
Two men forced their way into a residence on the unit block of Colony Hill Court in Halethorpe by gunpoint. According to police, two male suspects ransacked two bedrooms and took cell phones, then fled out the rear door of the residence.

Armed Robbery by BWI Footbridge
A man walking in the area of the footpath over the 295 Baltimore-Washington Parkway was robbed at gunpoint by two men at around 10:05 p.m. on July 25. The suspects took a cell phone and fled on foot.

Man Robbed in Baltimore Highlands
A man walking to the store at around 4 a.m. on July 30 was assaulted and robbed on the 4200-block of Oak Road in Baltimore Highlands. The victim was approached by four men who punched him and took his money and cell phone, then fled on foot.

Youth Robbed While Skateboarding in Lansdowne
At around 4:40 p.m. on July 25, a teenager was skateboarding on the 3800-block of Hollins Ferry Road when he was approached by two suspects, 16-17 years old, who asked for a dollar. When the victim said he had no money, the suspects punched him, knocked him to the ground, and took a cell phone before fleeing on foot.

Burglaries in the Area
July 24: Two people – a male and a female – entered a property on the 4700-block of Washington Boulevard in Halethorpe and attempted to take a rusted steel platform. A neighbor who observed the pair said he was going to call the owner, and the suspects fled.

July 27: At some point since 5:30 p.m. on July 23, an unknown person gained entry through the rear door of a residence on the 2800-block of Georgia Avenue in Baltimore Highlands. A television and jewelry with a total value of $1,100 were taken.

July 28: At some point since noon on July 25, an unknown person cut a window screen and entered a residence on the 2900-bock of Lakebrook Circle in Baltimore Highlands through a window opened a crack. Items taken from the residence include a 27-inch flat screen television, video game system and several video games.

July 29: A resident returning from work at around 1:30 p.m. found that his home on the 100-block of Arbutus Avenue in Halethorpe had been broken into during his absence. A video game system and jewelry were taken.

July 29: A resident on the 800-block of Hilltop Avenue in Baltimore Highlands returned from vacation at around 4 p.m. and found that an unknown person had entered the residence through an unlocked basement window and took a laptop computer.
