Recent law enforcement activity in the greater Arbutus area.

May 5: At around 5 a.m., police received a report of a burglary at the YWCA on the 4000-block of Southwestern Boulevard in Arbutus, which is being renovated as a homeless shelter. Sometime overnight, an unknown person entered the parking lot and took and 1993 white and orange Bobcat front-end loader owned by a construction company, with a value of $60,000.

May 5: At around 4:50 .m., police received a report of a burglary on the 400-block of Caledonia Avenue in Riverview. Some time between March 23 and April 6 an unknown person entered the residence and took about ten feet of copper pipe and destroyed another 20 feet of pipe.

May 6: At 8:36 p.m., police received a report of a burglary on the 4400-block of Poplar Avenue in Arbutus. At some time between May 2-3, an unknown person entered the building through a first-floor window and took copper wire, a pressure washer, a Jacuzzi tub and a diverter valve, with a total value of about $1,400.

May 7: Police received a report of a burglary on the 2900-block of Lakebrook Circle in Lansdowne. A resident left home at noon, and when she returned at 4:20 p.m. she found the front door unlocked. An unknown person entered the residence by opening a window and cutting the screen. Once inside, the person took a laptop computer, wristwatch and cell phone, with a total value of $970.

May 8: Shortly after 10 p.m., police received a report of burglary on the 2600-block of Daisy Avenue in English Consul. A homeowner looked at his rear window at 9:25 p.m. and saw nothing amiss, but when he looked out again at 10:10 he noticed that his shed was open. An unknown person removed the door from the hinges to gain access to the shed. Nothing was apparently taken.
