Pedestrian Struck by Acela Near Halethorpe Station

Unidentified victim transported to University of Maryland's Shock Trauma center.

UPDATE, 2:42 p.m.: The victim struck by the Acela train is a male who sustained head injuries, and was transported by ground ambulance to Shock Trauma.

Original story: An inidentified pedestrian was struck by an Amtrak Acela train just north of the Halethorpe station.

The incident happened at around 11:27 this morning on the 5600-block of Southwestern Boulevard.

According to sources, an individual was struck by Acela #2110, which had stopped at BWI Station and was northbound toward New York City.

Five units were dispatched to the scene at 11:41 a.m. by Baltimore County Fire Department. Although some sources report that the victim was "priority 4" -- deceased -- county fire department officials say that a victim was transported to University of Maryland's Shock Trauma center. In addition, Amtrak spokesperson Danelle Hunter says that the victim was alive as recently as 12:20 p.m.
