Passengers Injured in Lansdowne MTA Bus Incident

Riders jostled when bus stops suddenly on Hammonds Ferry Road.

Nine passengers were taken to the hospital for evaluation when a bus stopped suddenly at around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Hammonds Ferry Road and Monumental Avenue in Lansdowne, according to officials.

According to Maryland Transit Administration spokesman Terry Owens, the bus driver slammed on his breaks when a car cut him off in traffic.

None of the passengers were seriously hurt although they were transported by ambulances to local hospitals for observation, according to fire department officials.

Hammonds Ferry Road was closed to traffic between Fifth Avenue and Hollins Ferry Road for about 90 minutes.

"Just another day on the job," said the bus driver involved in the incident, who wished to remain unidentified.
