Pasadena Man Charged in Halethorpe Burglary

David Wayne Helmick, 29, was seen at Halethorpe metal scrap business, according to police.

A Pasadena man has been charged following a July 2 burglary at a Halethorpe metal scrap business, according to police.

At around 3:54 a.m., police responded to an alarm activated at Recovermat Mid-Atlantic, a scrap processor located on the 2200 block of Halethorpe Farms Rd., officials said.

When police arrived, they observed a white male at the scene wearing camouflage and carrying a large black-handled screwdriver, they said.

The suspect had broken a sliding bay door to enter the premises, and destroyed a glass window inside the business, police said.

The suspect fled on foot into a woodline, and was apprehended by police, according to officials.

David Wayne Helmick, 29, of Rock Hill Road in Pasadena, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary.

Thanks for reporting on this crime, Patch. But I was surprised to see that the perpetrator's skin tone was included in the article. Doesn't Arbutus Patch have a policy to include physical descriptions of a suspect only if it may help police catch them. This person apparently has already been arrested for the crime.
