'National Night Out' Events

Tonight is the 29th annual observance of the National Night Out Against Crime, an opportunity for residents, police and elected officials to stand together for safer neighborhoods.

Last year, more than 37 million people in 15,000 communities across the U.S. participated in the event, according to the organization.

Several events are scheduled in southwest Baltimore County:

Circle Terrace Apartments block party with McGruff the Crime Dog, Lakebrook Circle from 3:30-6 p.m.

Halethorpe Civic Association block party and ride through the neighborhood with McGruff the Crime Dog, Halethorpe Community Center and park at 6 p.m.

Kensington Community Association and Citizens on Patrol block party on College Avenue from 6 p.m. to dusk.
