Man Shot in Botched Carjacking

Incident occurred early Monday in Baltimore Highlands.

A man was shot and slightly injured after an attempted carjacking in Baltimore Highlands early Monday morning.

According to Baltimore County police, at around 2 a.m. a man stopped at the 7-11 on the 4300-block of Annapolis Road was approached by four suspects who demanded his car.

The man drove off quickly, but was followed by the suspects in a late-model Chevy Malibu. As the driver and his passenger exited the car, shots were fired, striking the passenger in the hand.

The suspects then fled the scene in the Malibu.

Within a short time, police located the Malibu and one of the suspects, who is in custody but has not yet been charged pending completion of the investigation. A search for the other suspects is under way, according to police.

The identity of the suspect in custody has not yet been released by the police.

The passenger shot in the hand sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by fire department paramedics, according to police.
