Man Charged in Riverview Assault

Ezekiel Dunston Mercer, 56, of the 3100 block of Freeway, charged with first-degree assault.

A Riverview man was charged with assault on Aug. 18 after a fight at the residence of his former girlfriend, according to police.

At around 2 p.m., police said, 56-year-old Ezekiel Dunston Mercer, of the 3100 block of Freeway Rd., went to his former girlfriend's residence on the 3300 block of Bero Rd. in order to retrieve some property.

Mercer argued with the woman's current boyfriend at the Bero Road address, which escalated into a fight, police said.

According to police, Mercer stabbed the 37-year-old male victim in the upper arm with an eight-inch military-style knife.

The victim suffered a minor laceration, and an ambulance was not requested, according to police.
