Lansdowne Man Charged in Stabbing of Son

Baltimore County Police have charged a 50-year-old Lansdowne man in the  attempted murder of his son, after police found the teen with a stab wound at their home Saturday morning.

Charles V. Palmer, of the 600 block of Washington Avenue, is charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree child abuse and other related charges, according to a police press release. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

At 9:30 a.m., Baltimore County Police and Fire officials responded to a reported stabbing at a home in the 600 block of Washington Avenue in Lansdowne. When they arrived, they found a juvenile standing in the front yard with a large stab wound in his neck, according to a press release. The victim is a 14-year-old male, according to Baltimore County Public Safety’s Twitter.

The victim told officers that he and his father, Charles Palmer, were in the attic of the home looking at knives when Palmer stabbed him in the neck. When Palmer dropped the knife, the victim picked it up and ran outside to the front lawn with it, police said.

The victim was transported to the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for a non-life-threatening injury, police said.

Palmer was located at the scene and taken into custody, police said.
