Kight Named Officer of the Month

"Team player" led by example, patrols aggressively in Southwest Baltimore County.

Officer Daniel Kight was named Officer of the Month for December at Baltimore County Police's Precinct One, based on Wilkens Avenue.

The award was presented at Tuesday night's meeting of the Wilkens Police Community Relations Organization, since January's meeting was canceled due to inclement weather.

In presenting the award, precinct commander Capt. John A. Spiroff said that Kight is a "team player who handles his calls for service and provides back-up assistance with little or no supervision."

During the month of December, Kight chalked up 26 citations, issued 10 warnings, two equipment repairs, and was responsible for two misdemeanor arrests and one felony arrest.

Citing one recent example, Spiroff pointed to a case in which Kight heard about a street robbery in another precinct over the radio, and armed with the vehicle description and intimate knowledge of the streets in this area headed for the city line, which resulted in the interception and arrest of the suspects.
