Jason Anthony Bulmer admitted to stabbing Ellicott City blogger/businessman Dennis Lane to death with a kitchen knife, the Baltimore Sun reported.
Bulmer and his girlfriend, 15-year-old Morgan Lane Arnold—Lane's daughter—plotted for more than two months to kill Lane and his fiancee, police said.
The couple, who met at Mount Hebron High School, began dating in November 2012 and planned to run away together after the murder, according to ABC 2 News.
At approximately 4:20 a.m. on May 10, police responded to a call from Lane's fiancee in the 8100 block of Winding Ross Way, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Lane was found "with no signs of life" and multiple stab wounds in a second-floor bedroom, according to charging documents obtained by the Baltimore Sun.
When police arrived, Bulmer and Arnold were sitting in an upstairs bedroom, his hands and clothes covered in blood, according to ABC 2 News.
"Bulmer immediately told the first arriving police officers a statement similar to 'I'm the one who did it; she [Arnold] told me to,'" according to charging documents.
The state plans to seek a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole for Bulmer, the Baltimore Sun reported.
Charges of conspiracy will be dropped at sentencing as part of his plea agreement, according to WBAL.
Arnold, 15, has a trial date of March 24. She is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy and two counts of solicitation for murder. She will be tried as an adult, according to ABC 2 News.
