Grant Retires Engine Loan for English Consul Fire Department

Check for $97,836.31 presented to department by county executive Kevin Kamenetz

A grant from Baltimore County to pay the $98,000 balance owed on a 2005 fire engine will save the 67-year-old about $9,000 in interest that the company can put to other needs, officials said during a check presentation on Wednesday.

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz was on hand to present an oversize check for $97,836.31 to ECVFD Chief Frank March, along with Baltimore County Fire Department Chief John J. Hohman. Also present were Dels. Steve DeBoy and James Malone, and Councilman Tom Quirk.

Engine 372 was purchased in 2006 for about $350,000.
