Fire-Rescue Log: Woods Fire Near Arbutus Elementary

During the period April 1-8, AVFD received 74 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

April 2: A 2:33 p.m., an odor of smoke was reported on the 4400-block of Alan Drive in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded to find a pot of food that had been left on the stove, but no fire.

April 3: At 12:48 a.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the 1800-block of Sutton Avenue in Halethorpe. Crews from the Arbutus and Violetville volunteer stations and Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded and extinguished a fire in the ceiling of the dwelling.

April 4: At 10:08 p.m., a seizure patient was reported on the 4200-block of Leeds Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded and transported one seriously ill person to a local hospital.

April 5: At 9:44 p.m., a high-risk fire alarm was reported at the at 5509 Oregon Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded to find a malfunctioning popcorn maker that had set off the alarm, but no fire.

April 6: 1At 12:27 p.m., a woods fire was reported near at 1300 Sulphur Spring Road in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded and extinguished a small brush fire.
