Fire-Rescue Log: Scooter Crash at Lansdowne High School

During the period Aug. 19-26, AVFD received 60 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

Aug. 19: At 4:25 p.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the 1200 block of Macadoo Ave. in Westview. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville, Westview and Woodlawn career stations responded. A shed fire was extinguished.

Aug. 22: At 7:14 p.m., an apartment fire was reported on the 4300 block of Alan Drive in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD, Catonsville and Halethorpe career stations responded to find a discharged extinguished in the laundry room, but no fire.

Aug. 22: At 8:05 p.m., an unknown type of fire was reported on the unit block of McTavish Avenue in Catonsville. Crews from AVFD responded and extinguished an outside illegal burn.

Aug. 23: At 9:23 a.m., hazardous material incident was reported on the 4700 block of Hollins Ferry Road in Halethorpe. Crews from the AVFD and Brooklandville, Halethorpe and Westview career stations responded and investigated. No hazardous material was found.

Aug. 23: At 5:15 p.m., a collision involving a motor scooter was reported at Lansdowne High School at 3800 Hollins Ferry Rd. Crews from the Lansddowne and Arbutus volunteer stations responded. One person with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
