Fire-Rescue Log: Potential Plane Crash at BWI

During the period Aug. 5-12, AVFD received 63 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

Aug. 5: At 2:08 a.m., an injured subject was reported on the 3900 block of Hollins Ferry Road in Lansdowne. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded and transported one seriously injured person to a local hospital.

Aug. 5: At 2:26 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with injury was reported at Wilkens Avenue and I-695 in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded and transported one person with non-life-threatening injuries to a local hospital.

Aug. 7: At 10:23 a.m., a motor vehicle accident with rescue was reported at Belmont Avenue and Ambassador Road in Woodlawn. Crews from the Arbutus and Woodlawn volunteer stations and Randallstown, Westview and Woodlawn career stations responded. One seriously injured person was extricated from the vehicle and transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. A second person with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to a local hospital.

Aug. 8: At 2:46 p.m., a potential plane crash was reported at Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded. No damage or injuries were reported and the plane landed safely.

Aug. 10: At 1:24 p.m., an emotionally ill subject was reported on the 1000 block of Beechfield Rd. in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded and transported one seriously ill person to a local hospital.
