Fire-Rescue Log: July 4 Drowning in Catonsville

During the period July 1-8, AVFD received 101 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

July 2: At 8:54 p.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the unit block of Shadynook Ave. in Catonsville. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville and Westview career station responded to find an overheated dryer, but no fire.

July 2: At 9:29 p.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the 2800 block of Oak Grove Ave. in English Consul. Crews from the English Consul, Arbutus, Lansdowne and Violetville volunteer stations and Halethorpe career station responded. A kitchen fire was extinguished.

July 4: At 12:15 p.m., a motor vehicle accident with rescue was reported at Sulphur Spring Road and Washington Boulevard in Halethorpe. Crews from the Arbutus and English Consul volunteer stations and Halethorpe career station responded.  One seriously injured person was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

July 4: At 6 p.m., a drowning was reported on the 1100 block of Alexander Ave. in Catonsville. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville career station responded. A critically injured child was rescued from a pool and transported to a local hospital.

July 7: At 11:17 a.m., a motor vehicle accident with rescue was reported at Wilkens and Leeds avenues in Arbutus. Crews from the Arbutus and English Consul volunteer stations responded to find a car that had struck a utility pole. One seriously injured person was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
