Fire-Rescue Log: Cardiac Arrest in Arbutus

During the period Oct. 14-21, AVFD received 74 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

Oct. 14: At 1:05 a.m., a motor vehicle accident with rescue was reported on I-295 at I-895 in English Consul. Crews from the English Consul and Arbutus volunteer stations and Halethorpe and Randallstown career station responded. One seriously injured person was rescued from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital.

Oct. 15: At 12:47 a.m., a motor vehicle accident with injuries was reported on I-695 between Exits 12-13 in Catonsville. Crews from the Arbutus and Violetville volunteer stations and Catonsville career stations responded to find property damage only.

Oct. 17: At 5:32 p.m., a dwelling fire was reported on the 2900 block of Delaware Ave. in English Consul. Crews from the English Consul, Arbutus, Lansdowne and Violetville volunteer stations and Halethorpe career station responded to find a malfunctioning furnace that filled the basement of the dwelling with smoke, but no fire.

Oct. 17: At 9:12 p.m., a fall was reported on the 5400 block of Highridge St. in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded and transported one seriously injured person to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Oct. 17: At 11:57 p.m., a cardiac arrest was reported on the 1200 block of Greystone Rd. in Arbutus. Crews from AVFD responded and transported one critically ill person to a local hospital.
