Fire-Rescue Log: Trash Truck in Three-Vehicle Collision

During the period May 27-June 3, AVFD received 68 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:

May 27: At 1:55 a.m., a motor vehicle accident with injury was reported on the 4600 block of Leeds Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from AVFD responded. One person with serious injuries was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

May 30: At 9:31 a.m. a person experiencing severe trouble breathing was reported on the 2000 block of Cedar Circle in Westview. Crews from the AVFD and Westview career station responded. One seriously ill person was taken to a local hospital.

May 30: At 1:17 P.M., A motor vehicle accident with injury was reported on the 1000 block of Maiden Choice Lane in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded to find a three-vehicle collision involving a trash truck. One person with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to a local hospital.

June 1: At 6:22 a.m., a transformer fire was reported at Willys Avenue and Walnut Avenue in Arbutus. Crews from AVFD responded to find a blown transformer. The scene was secured for BGE.

June 1: At 2:45 p.m., a dumpster fire was reported at Chesapeake Bay Coatings at 1583 Sulphur Spring Road in Arbutus. Crews from the Arbutus and Violetville volunteer stations responded and extinguished a small dumpster fire.
