Ellicott City Teens to Shock Trauma After Collision with School Bus

No students were on the bus, according to police.

Three teenagers were taken to University of Maryland's Shock Trauma Center Tuesday afternoon after an collision involving a school bus on Baltimore National Pike.

There were no students on the bus according to Howard County Police Spokeswoman Elizabeth Schroen.

According to Schroen, at about 2:35 p.m., three teens were in a 2009 Honda CRV, traveling eastbound on Baltimore National Pike, turning left at Pebble Beach Drive.

The car struck a school bus traveling westbound on Baltimore National Pike, Schroen said in a statement.

An ambulance took front passenger Thomas Drago, 17, of Ellicott City, to University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to Schroen.

A MedEvac helicopter brought the driver and the back-seat passenger, Patrick More, 16, of Ellicott City, to Shock Trauma, Schroen said, both with life-threatening injuries.

Police are not naming the driver, due to possibile pending charges, Schroen said.

Police said that the preliminary investigation shows the bus had the right of way, with a green traffic light at the intersection.

Kam Enterprises of Glenelg operates the bus, which takes Howard County students to school.

Bus driver Anne Marie Mullinix, 52, of Sykesville and 53-year-old bus aide Ruth Mathis of West Friendship were not injured.
