Driver Injured in One-Car Crash in Relay

Young female driver transported to Shock Trauma after striking telephone pole on Clarke Ave.

A driver was transported by ambulance to University of Maryland's Shock Trauma Center after striking a telephone pole on the 1800 block of Clarke Ave. in Relay at around 9:25 p.m. on Saturday, according to police and witnesses at the scene.

The driver, described by witnesses as a young female, was headed northbound on Clarke when she struck the pole, damaging the left corner of the vehicle.

She was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to witnesses.

According to police, the driver was taken to Shock Trauma as a precaution, but did not appear to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Power was knocked out in the area of Relay due to the crash, neighbors said.
