Catonsville Man Sentenced for Murder of Dundalk Woman

Leslie Jo Rasmussen was beaten and strangled in her Holabird Avenue home on June 9, 2010.

On Monday, a Catonsville man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the June 9, 2010, murder of Dundalk resident Leslie Jo Rasmussen.

Baltimore County Circuit Court Judge Sherrie Bailey issued the sentence against Robert T. Buck of the unit block of Wade Avenue in Catonsville, according to a statement from Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger.

Police officers were called to the 7100 block of Holabird Avenue on June 9, 2010, after receiving a call about a possible cardiac arrest, according to the statement.

Upon arrival at the home, first responders found Rasmussen, 48, dead, according to an ABC2 news report.

It was later determined that Rasmussen died of blunt force trauma and asphyxiation, according to Shellenberger's statement.

The investigation of the case led to Buck, who eventually confessed to the crime, officials said.

Buck admitted to beating and strangling Rasmussen, as well as attempting to cover up the crime, according to an ABC2 television news report at the time.

A family blog post of July 8, 2010, referred to Buck as a "spurned suitor/neighbor" and mentioned the "excellent" memorial service for Rasmussen that helped provide closure to family members.

On Jan. 9, Buck pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
