Baltimore Highlands Woman Charged in Elkridge Auto Theft

Phyllis Ann Meeks, 54, of the 2600-block of Virginia Avenue, charged with auto theft

A Baltimore Highlands woman was arrested after a brief chase with Howard County police in Elkridge and charged with motor vehicle theft on Nov. 14.

According to police, Phyllis Ann Meeks, 54, of the 2800-block of Virginia Avenue in Baltimore Highlands, was observed taking a 2009 Chrysler Sebring from a residence on the 6200-block of Washington Boulevard in Elkridge.

Police were called, and the stolen car was located. After what police describe as a "brief pursuit," Meeks was arrested anc charged with motor vehicle theft and unauthorized removal of property.

A check of court records shows that Meeks has a criminal history that includes convictions for assault, theft, possession of drugs and carrying concealed weapons. In 2001 she was sentenced to 4 years in jail for negligent homicide.
